Important Note on Intended Use
Heal Shield boots are designed specifically for equine wound protection and healing support, by keeping flies and debris off wounds.
To ensure product performance and safety
Do’s:
Do use boots on clean, dry legs.
Do use for turnout, stall rest, and trailering (when appropriate).
Do follow all instructions regarding fit and usage time
Do remove every 12 hours for inspection of wounds.
Do use corn starch baby powder (Coat Defense, or similar powder) for moisture control under boot in humid weather
Do use the correct boot for LEFT and RIGHT to ensure correct soft tissue protection.
Do close with a little pressure in the strap for a snug, but not tight fit.
neoprene is naturally forgiving and has a little stretch; the Velcro straps are also elastic to prevent over tightening with distribution of pressure over the wide neoprene band.
Do NOTS:
Do NOT use in thick mud (Florida wet sand seems ok), deep water, or excessive prolonged wet conditions not recommended.
Do NOT Use on untreated or dirty wounds, dirty or wet legs.
Do NOT use Improper sizes boot, excessive tightening, boot applied to lose or long-term wear without inspection - designed to be changed or inspected at least every 12 hours.
Do NOT use the wrong boot orientation i.e left boot on the right leg.
Do NOT allow horses to wear boots for extended periods of time or in hot humid weather (generally longer than 12-14 hours without removing - we use corn starch baby powder in humid weather for moisture control under the boots.
